BY ANJA NAM SIEGNER
Anja Siegner Nam is a painter and collagist, born in Hanover, Germany, growing up in France and South Africa. Her mother was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, and grew up in a refugee camp before coming to France. Anja's work draws on this heritage, reflected in the blurred imagery of painted black and white photograph archives without identity, opening up space for imagination and all-encompassing associations. The images speak of displacement and loss, separation and the erosion of memory and home. As the past and the familiar are distanced from our grasp, so too is the ability to see into an uncertain future, instead bound in a limbo state that reminds us that all there is is now.
