Mushrooms are our ancient extraterrestrial ancestors, who travelled to Earth on their spacecraft, bringing with them advanced alien technology. The original crew arrived here on a mission, and we are the extension of that mission. We are their spawn, doing their bidding whether we understand it or not.
The spore crew initiated the Fungal Project Earth Edition (FPEE). They went ahead colonising the planet and everything on their path. Our alien ancestors had shape-shifting abilities and under the correct conditions could manifest into an extraterrestrial material our species today calls mycelium. Using this material form our ancestors weaved themselves into the fabric of Earth, establishing themselves as the planet’s sovereign underworld hidden rulers.
Millions of years into FPEE, the fungal forces eventually started colonising our species, permeating our central nervous system and shaping our brains, later influencing our perspective and how we interface with this reality.
But let’s go back to the original arrival, the first wave. After spending light years navigating the universe and checking out our galaxy, the crew picked up some VIP passengers while on route to our solar system, these guests would enable them to implement the beginnings of FPEE.
It was about 1 billion years ago when the first wave of crafts docked on Earth. Some of the crafts landed in the waters while others crash landed around the planet. The Earth hasn’t always been lush and green as we know it. In those days this planet’s surface was barren. There was only one resource these guys could work with and that was rock. They set up a large mining project that would enable them to dig into the bedrock and access rich minerals.
Fungi turn rock into life. Fungi are decomposers, nature’s recyclers. They created the first layers of soil, so the first plants could grow. Fungi ran the planet in those days. Long before the first forests arrived fungi ruled the world growing on average 8 metres high; there were no rivals.
After the very first fungi came onto land, over 500 million years passed before plants started to do their thing. Just like you witness mycelium colonising a log or even mummifying an ant, mycelium went weaving itself through the planet the same way, creating a neurological super information highway for Earth’s frequencies. The mycelium formed a symbiotic relationship with new plants connecting roots, exchanging key minerals, nutrients and sugars. They were also able to penetrate the plants and wrap themselves around individual plant cells providing defence and creating connections through organic technology.
Fungi have seen it all, the first forests, flowers, insects and flying things, they even witnessed the rise and fall of the ancient giant race. These tyrant reptilian giant-like gods became too numerous and destructive, they were becoming detrimental to the original fungal mission.
65 million years ago the decision was made to bring an end to the destructive rulers reign and tyranny. Our alien ancestors decided to send another crew on a new mission. When the second wave of ships penetrated the Earth’s atmosphere, their presence was felt immediately, the power and impact of their arrival wiped out the reptilian giants and also killed 70% of life on Earth.
Fungi eat death to create life, so fungi inherited the Earth again. This time the crew brought additional technology, these alien samples contained the necessary ingredients that would activate a new spawning and heal Mother Earth. Wherever they went, they spread their spores, inoculating her substrate, introducing their alien technology into her organic operating system. They kept her in incubation for several seasons recolonising her within and without, plus that which she births.
It took millions of Earth years of conditioning the environment before the pinning and fruiting of mammals, and in particular the emergence of primates. The advanced primate species had been hard wired with software to allow true interface with the fungal technology.
It is in ancient Africa where we find the earliest receivers of the newly developed organic technology. They were the ones who first plugged in and downloaded the software essential for the advancement of the species.
Once they got access and started to integrate the technology into their way of life there was a shift. Sight, smell, hearing, touch and taste were all upgraded and enhanced. There was a fast tracking of cultural evolution through art, music, language and writing. The new technology not only provided a sustainable food source and medicine for the species, it also built homes, communities and some of the most advanced ancient societies. As these societies migrated they took their spore technology and lifestyle with them. They learnt to navigate both the outer and inner worlds, and began to mirror the heavens on Earth as intended.
Let’s fast forward to the here and now. You can see that our species has had a major disconnection from the technology, our operating system has been hacked. These bugs have introduced synthetic technology that is interfering with the service being delivered by the organic providers. True fungal connection has been lost to fibre optics, WIFI, Bluetooth and personal hotspots. These new age viruses can replicate and reproduce themselves in whoever is receiving the signal.
As our species destroys itself from the inside and out, this ancient technology is reprogramming itself, ready for a third wave. Already we see evidence of it on the horizon, with mushrooms infiltrating laboratories and urban streets.
It’s looking like the last days for this project if we do not reconnect with our organic technologies... or maybe we have already been inoculated by the fungi, and end up just like those zombie ants at the hands of mushroom puppeteers. If we don’t fix up our mess, the mushrooms will. May the spores be with you.
